Nigmetov: "Manor House" in Grozny recognized fit for living

The so-called "Manor House" situated at No. 2/1 in Putin Avenue in the capital of Chechnya has been recognized fit for habitation, Gennady Nigmetov, the supreme category responsible specialist of the Russian State Research Institute for Emergencies, has stated.

Mr Nigmetov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that this was the outcome of the preliminary data processing; the results were sent to the Ministry for Regional Development, which requested the data. According to his version, no request of this sort ever arrived from the Mayoralty of Grozny.

"Expressly, the building is fit for use; it's in good condition. However, since it's located in the earthquake zone, it requires some anti-earthquake reinforcement," the expert has noted, having added that the building is brick-made and has no reinforcement of this sort, since it was not needed earlier.

As he explained, the anti-earthquake reinforcement is a complex of special measures, developed by designers, not always of radical nature. They can be accomplished without moving the tenants out.

Ilyas Matsiev, head of the press service of the administration of Grozny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the expert's opinion had not arrived there yet. No decision has been made on the building so far.

In the administration of Grozny, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told that only the press service is authorized to give any comments. The Construction Department of the Mayoralty also advised to address the Ministry of Emergencies.

Timur Taisumov, head of the press service of this Ministry, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the edition had been put on the "black list" of media. "I know nothing, and even if I knew, I wouldn't say anything. I have a black list, and I've put the 'Caucasian Knot' into it," said Mr Taisumov.

The residents of the house have no official information about the examination: "We have absolutely no news. No official written information," Raissa Ibragimova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Meanwhile, the tenants notice indirect indications that their house will survive: municipal services exhibit diligence: they cleaned the yard and removed garbage. "For a week already they are bringing heat and hot water to us. This indicates that the house will not be smashed," said another resident - Valentina Malsagova.
