Mordovian human rights activists took on group of observers for election in Chechnya

A group of observers for the presidential election in the Chechen Republic coming on October 5 was taken on by the Mordovian Republican Human Rights Center. 5 people are in the group, all being citizens of Saransk. As Vasily Guslyannikov, the director of the Center, reported, the recruitment was conducted at the instance of the Moscow Helsinki Group.

All the five are volunteers. They will work at the election without compensation, but they will be rendered assistance to move to the Northern Caucasus where they will live for three days in tent camps. The main unsettled problem, according to Guslyannikov, is to secure normal work for the observers, besides no one gives them guarantees of their personal security.
