Six foreigners detained at Chechen border

Six foreigners who tried to illegally enter the Chechen territory were detained on July 30 by Russian MoI officers in the region of the administrative border with Ingushetia.

The "offenders" were detained at the check-point "Kavkaz" located in the republic's Sunzhenski district. The Russian MoI officers on duty there detained three citizens of Ukraine, two residents of Azerbaijan and one person from Moldova. The detainees are soon going to be deported from the Russian territory.

"Yesterday, in the course of checking automobile transport at the "Kavkaz" check-point located at the administrative border between the Chechen Republic and Ingushetia, officers of the Temporary Joint Group of Russian MoI identified and detained six illegal migrants who tried to illegally enter the republic's territory. Three of them are citizens of Ukraine, two are from Azerbaijan and one from Moldova", reported a Chechen militia officer to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"They all were on the Russian territory without proper authorizing documents. After the completion of appropriate checks and other formalities the illegal immigrants will be deported outside the country", said the interlocutor.

Even now one can meet scores of people from Central Asia on the streets of Grozny. They are mainly from Tajikistan, mostly women and children. Their main business is begging. Many residents of the republic believe that they bring drugs into the republic and deal with their distribution.
