A verdict has been issued for the mediator in the bribery of the former head of Novocheboksarsk.

The court sentenced former official Lyubim Belov to eight years in a penal colony, finding him guilty of mediating in the bribery of former head of Novocheboksarsk Yuri Lysenko.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the head of the Novocheboksarsk administration Yuri Lysenko was detained in May last year on suspicion of receiving a large bribe from a developer. His case went to court in May of this year. In the same case, in May last year, the head of the municipal service and personnel development department of the city administration, Lyubim Belov, was arrested, who was suspected of mediating in the bribery.

The Novocheboksarsk city court on October 23 found Lyubim Belov guilty of mediating in the bribery of the former head of the city Yuri Lysenko, writes "Kommersant".

According to investigators, Yuri Lysenko promised to issue a resolution on the development of planning and land surveying projects, conclude contracts for the comprehensive development of the territory with a legal entity, and ensure the construction of a school by a contractor using budget funds. The ownership of the plot was registered in Belov's name, who was the head of the municipal service and personnel development department of the city administration. The investigation believes this was done fictitiously.

Belov was found guilty of committing a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediating in bribery on a particularly large scale) and sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony, a fine of 6.4 million rubles. He is also prohibited from holding positions related to the exercise of functions of a representative of the authorities.
