A contractor from Kalmykia was killed in Ukraine

Erdni Chapurtinov from the Ketchenerovsky district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, authorities and security forces have acknowledged at least 262 fighters from Kalmykia as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by September 18, authorities and security forces had acknowledged at least 261 fighters as killed in the special military operation in Ukraine.

Erdni Chapurtinov was born on August 1, 1988, in Ketcheneri. After school, he entered the law faculty of the Kalmyk branch of the Moscow Academy of Economics and Law, and in 2009 he was drafted for compulsory service in Budennovsk, reported the state news agency "Kalmykia".

In April 2025, Chapurtinov signed a contract to participate in the special military operation. On May 25 of the same year, he was killed in the village of Kamenskoye in the Zaporizhzhia region and was awarded the Order of Courage.

Thus, at least 262 combatants from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation. "I receive only twelve thousand rubles a month for two minor children as a family of military pensioners," complains the wife of Vasily Shtylun, who received five million rubles from the "Veterans" unit for her husband, who was killed in 2022.
