The rise in bread prices has hit the family budget of Makhachkala residents.

The increase in the price of bread in the stores of Makhachkala has become an additional burden on the family budget, residents complained. A representative of the bakery linked the price hike to the rise in fuel prices.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 3, the owner of a grocery store in Makhachkala reported that in the last week, bread has increased in price by 10 rubles, while the price of three dozen eggs has risen from 220 to 340 rubles over the month. "Suppliers say this may be related to the increase in gasoline prices," said the entrepreneur.

Residents of Makhachkala interviewed today by a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot" expressed dissatisfaction with the retail price increase for bread that occurred in September. The survey is not representative and reflects only the private opinions of those surveyed.

"A 500-gram loaf of white bread has risen in price from 50 to 55 rubles. We need at least two loaves daily for our family. It seems like a small amount, but for us, this money is a burden, as I do not work, and we have three children," said a resident of Makhachkala, Saida.

All types of bread have increased in price by an average of 10 rubles, reported Makhachkala resident Albina. "We have a large family, what are we to do? Also, public transport has gone from 32 to 37 rubles, and the children travel to school daily. We roughly calculated: we have an additional burden of over a thousand rubles on our family budget," she said.

Until September 2026, the last price increase for bread occurred in April 2025, a representative of one of the bakeries in Makhachkala told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

He explained the current price increase by the significantly increased costs of delivering bread to retail outlets, which is related to the substantial rise in fuel prices. The cost of flour for bread production, however, has not increased, he noted.

Recall that high fuel prices have persisted in Dagestan for three months, and local residents previously indicated that the authorities are not taking effective measures to address this problem.
