Participants of the march in Tbilisi on the 640th day of protests expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the authorities.

The march on the 640th day of daily protests in Tbilisi was dedicated, in addition to demands for the release of political prisoners, to emigration.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", despite heavy rain, on August 28, supporters of Georgia's Eurointegration took to the streets in Tbilisi for the 639th consecutive day. It became known that a total of nine participants of the protest actions were pardoned.

The "Saturday march" took place today in Tbilisi from the Avlabari metro station to the government administration building. Its participants brought Georgian flags and European Union flags to the protest site. According to the participants, representatives of the "Georgian Dream" "will not spare a minute of illegal imprisonment of people." They chant: "Freedom for prisoners of conscience"; "Glory to Georgia!", reports "Interpressnews".

Today's march is the first after the release from prison of nine prisoners pardoned by the President of Georgia. The parents of the prisoners hope that their children will also be released from prison soon.

"First of all, I would like to sincerely congratulate the released boys. They are all our children. And I would like to congratulate those remaining on their soon-to-be freedom. We are all united, as every mother, every prisoner of conscience is like a child," says the mother of Georgy Chikvaidze, Eka Tsereteli.

Today's march is dedicated to the issue of emigration – people say that those who left their homeland should return to Georgia, reports the TV company "Pirveli".

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Law enforcement has conducted harsh crackdowns on protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detaining protesters. Thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution during the protests.
