The coordinator of the national civic association "Ayakve" Avetik Chalabyan, accused of preparing to obstruct the exercise of voting rights, was released in the courtroom.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the court arrested the coordinator of the "Ayakve" movement Avetik Chalabyan for two months in a case regarding the preparation to obstruct the exercise of voting rights. In particular, it concerns a visit abroad and a meeting with business representatives to encourage citizens of Armenia to come and vote for Karapetyan's party. Chalabyan's case fully fits into the logic of repression, the movement stated.

The coordinator of the national civic association "Ayakve" Avetik Chalabyan was released from custody in the courtroom.

The judge decided that there were no grounds for extending Chalabyan's arrest. Moreover, he ruled that there was also no need for any other preventive measure, writes "News of Armenia".

The state prosecutor requested to extend Chalabyan's arrest for another two months, while the defense petitioned for his release.

Chalabyan's defender previously stated that detention under the current health conditions "resembles an unjustified punishment," writes Armenia Today.
