The human rights project "Caucasus Without a Mother" reported the restoration of a blocked page on Instagram*, emphasizing that there was a targeted attack on the account.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early August, the founder of the human rights project "Caucasus Without a Mother", Lydia Mikhalchenko, reported threats and insults directed at its staff, as well as the blocking of the project's page on social media.

According to the project "Caucasus Without a Mother", the attack on the social media page exploited algorithm bugs. "But that is over now. We sought friends among social media experts and found them. The analysis showed that we were right, and we got the public page back without spending a dime. The account heda-media on Instagram* did not violate anyone's rights," the human rights project reported today on its Telegram channel.

According to the participants of the project "Caucasus Without a Mother", while the restoration was underway, they had to temporarily work through a backup account, where the English version of the page was previously published. The human rights defenders noted that the backup account will gradually return to its previous tasks, representing the English-language version of the project for subscribers abroad.

"Such solidarity is extremely important: it reminds us that injustice does not go unanswered and gives hope not only to us but to all women who know they can count on us," the message states.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the issue of violence against women remains relevant in the southern regions of Russia. On July 28, journalist Ksenia Sobchak recorded a video address to the head of North Ossetia Sergey Menyaylo, demanding a response to calls from members of the "Caucasian Community" for violence against women.

The reason for the address was a video of a resident of Beslan, who danced in front of the camera in a tank top without a bra. The administrator of the Telegram channel "Caucasian Community" accused her of insulting traditions, threatened to make the whole family apologize, and published the girl's home address, Sobchak reported on July 26 in her Telegram channel "Bloody Lady".

In February 2025, Ruslan Umaev, accused of murdering his daughter-in-law Kristina Kokova, left for the military operation zone in Ukraine. According to human rights defenders, Umaev confessed to the murder, stating that he strangled Kokova and burned her body because she allegedly "behaved immorally", and disposed of the remains in the river.

Kristina Kokova, originally from Lobnya in the Moscow region, married Akhmed Umaev in 2020 and gave birth to a daughter after moving to Chechnya. She complained about pressure from her mother-in-law and physical violence from her husband. After the divorce, Kokova returned to her mother, but the relatives of her ex-husband constantly took the child back to Chechnya. Father-in-law Ruslan Umaev controlled the actions of his former daughter-in-law and threatened to deprive her of the opportunity to communicate with her daughter, Kokova's mother, Anastasia, reported.

Earlier, the story of the death of Madina Umaeva from Gudermes caused a wide public outcry in Chechnya. She died on June 12, 2020, in her husband's house and was buried at night. Umaev's husband claimed that she fell down the stairs during an epileptic seizure. However, the woman's relatives reported that there were frequent quarrels between the spouses.

Umaeva's body was exhumed on June 20, 2020. Three days later, Ramzan Kadyrov intervened in the situation, stating that the woman's relatives had no evidence of her husband's guilt. After that, Umaeva's mother apologized for her words about her daughter's violent death.
