The acting head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, reported on the repair of electrical networks and named the reliability of energy supply as one of the main problems of the republic. Local residents, commenting on his report on social media, complained about regular power outages and demanded specific results from the authorities.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of Dagestan regularly complain about problems with power supply interruptions. For instance, on August 14, residents of Irchi Kazaka Street in Makhachkala went out into the street for the third time in a week due to a prolonged power outage.

More than 50% of power transmission lines in Dagestan are in emergency condition, noted the acting head of the republic, Fyodor Shchukin. By the end of 2026, it is planned to complete the repair of 33 feeders, of which 22 have already been repaired. At the same time, 39 feeders that have not been reconstructed account for about 80% of failures in the urban power grid, Shchukin reported, whose words were published on August 18 by the Telegram channel of the head of Dagestan.

Shchukin participated in a meeting with the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergey Kiriyenko. Members of the Dagestan government reported to him on the situation in construction, waste management, and tourism, as stated in the publication.
