The appellate court upheld the sentence against Ahmed Pogorov.

The Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria reviewed the appeal of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, Ahmed Pogorov, and upheld the nine-year sentence. The defense believes that during the consideration of the case regarding the organization of violence at the rally in Magas and participation in an extremist community, the court of first instance committed numerous violations.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in November 2025, the court in Nalchik announced the verdict in a closed session, sentencing the co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, Ahmed Pogorov, to nine years in a penal colony for organizing violence at the rally in Magas and participating in an extremist community. The court also deprived him of his deserved titles and awards, but this did not affect the attitude of the residents of Ingushetia towards him, his relatives and friends noted. Pogorov has ischemic heart disease, and the medical unit of the isolation facility where he is held does not have the equipment to provide him with emergency assistance in case of a worsening of his condition, his lawyer stated earlier.

The Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria reviewed the appeal of the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, Ahmed Pogorov, on August 7 and upheld the sentence of nine years in prison, "Fortanga" reported, citing Pogorov's lawyer Jabrail Kuriev.

The lawyer pointed out numerous violations that occurred during the consideration of the case. In particular, after Pogorov was removed from the courtroom, the process continued for another eight months and ten days, during which time 108 court sessions were held without the defendant. In addition, the defense claims that he was not given the opportunity to fully familiarize himself with the materials of the criminal case before the appeal was considered.

According to the defense, the decision of the Nalchik City Court represents a plagiarism of the verdict of the Kislovodsk City Court, issued in 2021 in the case of other defendants in the "Ingush case". At the same time, the materials regarding Pogorov were separated into a separate proceeding and were considered independently for almost two and a half years.

Seven Ingush activists were accused of creating and participating in an extremist community. In December 2021, the court sentenced Ahmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Malsag Uzhakhov to nine years in a penal colony, Ismail Nalgiev, Bagaudin Khautiev, and Barakh Chemurziev to eight years, and Zarif Sautiev to seven and a half years. The defense of the convicted in the Ingush case filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of Russia to achieve the cancellation of restrictions that apply after release, but the court refused to accept the complaint. On March 26, 2019, a large-scale rally, coordinated with the authorities, took place in Magas. Its holding was permitted until the evening, but the protesters stayed overnight. The next morning, on March 27, 2019, security forces used force against the protesters.

Ahmed Pogorov became the eighth defendant in the "Ingush case" sentenced to a long prison term. By February 2026, seven previously convicted Ingush activists were released. Sautiev and Nalgiev celebrated their wedding after their release .
