Two servicemen from the Rostov region were killed in the SVO zone.

Sergey Ranov and Arthur Shutko from Shakhty were killed in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the special operation, at least 963 fighters from the Rostov region have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by August 5, the authorities and security forces officially recognized at least 961 fighters from the Rostov region as killed in Ukraine.

Sergey Ranov volunteered to go to the front in the combined unit "Bars-7" in October 2022. After returning home following a serious injury, he became an active participant in the volunteer movement – initiating the production of medical tourniquets and stabilizers for drones. He was posthumously awarded the medal "For Combat Merits".

Arthur Shutko participated in the military operation since March 2022, was injured, and returned to duty. He was killed in September 2024. He was posthumously awarded the medal "For Demining", the Zhukov medal, and the Order of Courage.

Authorities recognized at least 9550 fighters from southern Russia as killed in the military operation

At least 4755 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4795 servicemen from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the special operation in Ukraine.

Thus, at least 963 fighters from the Rostov region have been officially recognized as killed in the SVO. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who were killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and security agencies, as stated in the "Caucasian Knot" report "SVO Statistics: Losses in Southern Russia are Growing".

Earlier, the administration of Shakhty reported that Andrey Kalinichenko was killed in the military operation.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, as stated in the material of the "Caucasian Knot" "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Deny Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers", which describes the stories of fighters from other regions. "I receive only twelve thousand rubles a month for two minor children as a family of military pensioners," complains the wife of Vasily Shtylun, who received five million rubles from the "Veterans" unit for her husband killed in 2022.
