Villagers in Dagestan complained about the lack of response from officials to the fire at the dump.

In the Kaytag district, a fire from an illegal dump spread to a wheat field, and the local firefighters and residents do not have enough resources to deal with the blaze, while the authorities are not responding to requests for help, a local resident complained on social media. Other villagers, commenting on his post, demanded a response from officials.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of various settlements in Dagestan have repeatedly complained about unsanitary conditions due to dumps and the acrid smoke spreading from them as a result of fires and arson. For instance, on July 14, residents of the Khasavyurt district complained that the acrid smoke from the burning dump was heading towards the village of Karlanyurt, and repeated appeals to officials did not lead to a solution to the problem.

A resident of the Kaytag district recorded a video from the site of the fire at the dump in the Kabaz-Kutan area near the village of Rodnikovyy. According to a post published on August 1 on the Instagram*-page dagizvestiyaa, the fire started at an unauthorized dump, after which the flames spread to the wheat field of the individual entrepreneur "KFH Magomedov" – one of the largest taxpayers in the district.

Local residents tried to stop the spread of the fire using tractors. During the work, one of the tractor drivers felt unwell, and an ambulance was called for him. The fire service was working at the site, however, according to the video author, garbage trucks continued to take waste to the burning dump.

"A big request for help. The authorities of the Kaytag district are not responding to this at all. <…>. The fire service is working, but everyone is indifferent," said the video author.

This post on the Instagram*-page dagizvestiyaa, which has about 462 thousand followers, had received 410 likes and 21 comments by 07:55 MSK on August 3.

Participants in the discussion called for help for the people trying to stop the spread of the fire and warned about the threat to other areas.

"Help is needed," wrote user klimatstroi.

"People, help them. Otherwise, the fire will reach many," wrote marzhanat8224.

Some commentators linked the emergence of illegal dumps to the lack of authorized places for waste disposal. They pointed out that the problem is characteristic not only of the Kaytag district but of all of Dagestan.

"Where do we have an authorized dump? This is a republican-level question. It’s time to raise this issue not only in the district but everywhere in Dagestan," wrote user kaytagmoto.

"Is there even an authorized dump in this area? No. What else is there to talk about? No one knows where the garbage should be taken," emphasized magomed.177_.

Users also discussed actions to extinguish the fire. One of them suggested creating a strip to prevent the further spread of the fire, while another pointed out that the fire service was already working at the site.

"Make a plowed strip across the wheat field so the fire doesn’t spread further," wrote user xaybula_05_.

"If the fire service is working, then who are you complaining to?" asked user _uma_190.

As of 07:55 MSK, there were no comments on the Kaytag district administration's website regarding the local resident's complaint about the fire at the illegal dump.
