The names of eight Kalmykian soldiers killed in Ukraine have been released.

Nurken Isenov, Alexey Korotkov, Viktor Khargatayev, and five other fellow countrymen were killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have officially acknowledged at least 243 fighters from Kalmykia killed there.

According to the "Caucasian Knot," by July 27, officials and security forces have acknowledged at least 4,727 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,773 from the Southern Federal District killed in Ukraine, including 235 from Kalmykia.

The names of eight Kalmykia servicemen killed in Ukraine were released by the Lagansky District administration, reporting on the presentation of posthumous awards to their relatives.

Six of those killed—Vladimir Popov, Arkady Bashayev, Nurken Isenov, Alexey Bogatov, Alexey Korotkov, and Viktor Khargatayev—were posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. Andrey Badma-Goryayev was posthumously awarded the Suvorov Medal, and Vitaly Nebozhenko was awarded the Medal "For Bravery, 2nd Class," the municipality's official Telegram channel reported on July 30.

The ages and biographical details of the killed soldiers were not provided in the official statement.

Thus, at least 243 combatants from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Northern Military District Statistics: Casualties Mounting in Southern Russia."

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Denying Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "He participated in combat operations for many years and holds two Orders of Courage. But no official honors were bestowed upon his family," a relative of one of the soldiers said.
