300 wedding parties in Nagorno-Karabakh Vank village in one day

Russian businessman Levon Airapetyan has moved an idea to organize a marriage ceremony of 300 young couples. The event will take place this September in the village of Vank, Martakert District of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the government has started registering the interested persons.

A group of philanthropists headed by Levon Airapetyan will bear all the expenses. Quite probably, the sponsors will take care of young families after the wedding.

On June 11, President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Bako Saakyan held a meeting to discuss the issues related to the forthcoming ceremony; a special commission chaired by Narine Azatyan, Minister of Social Security of the Republic, was set up for organizing the solemn wedding. Till the end of June, the commission will draft the programme of the event and compile the lists of those who will get married.

Levon Airapetyan, a native of Vank, owns a huge business in Russia. Right after the 1994 armistice, he started restoring the village. Now, the village operates a modern woodworking factory. The businessman has funded construction of a school, two hotels, a recreation zone, and repaired the road to the temple Gandzasar of the 13th century.
