Two residents of Ingushetia were arrested after gunfire at a wedding.

The court in the Nazran district arrested two local residents for 15 days, one of whom fired a gun at a wedding, while the other, lacking a license, made dangerous maneuvers while driving a car in a convoy.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, law enforcement detained participants of the wedding convoy for shooting in the air and making dangerous maneuvers in the oncoming lane of the road.

Police discovered a video on social media showing gross violations by several drivers from the wedding convoy. The footage shows the driver of a "VAZ-21113" entering the oncoming lane on Jabagiev Street in the village of Kantyshevo in the Nazran district, while the driver of a "Grant" fired several shots from a weapon, the agency reported on July 21 on its Telegram channel.

One of the drivers got behind the wheel without a driver's license. It was he who made dangerous maneuvers in the oncoming lane. The second driver fired from a deactivated Retay pistol of 5.5 mm caliber. Both cars were excessively tinted, the report said.

"Both residents of Kantyshevo, aged 20 and 21, have been placed in the detention center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nazran district. The vehicles have been transported to the impound lot <…>. By the decision of the magistrate's court of the Nazran district, the young men have been sentenced to administrative arrest for 15 days," the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic noted.

The video mentioned in the report by the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs was published today on its Telegram channel by "Fortanga." The footage shows several cars moving along the road. The driver of a "Lada" entered the oncoming lane and nearly collided with a "KAMAZ," whose driver was coming towards him. To avoid a collision, the "Lada" driver first went onto the shoulder and then veered further onto the grass. After some time, he returned to the roadway.

Other participants of the wedding convoy also enter the oncoming lane. The driver of one of the cars fires several shots from a pistol into the air. Then several more shots are heard.

"Caucasian Knot" has repeatedly reported on incidents involving gunfire at weddings in the republics of the North Caucasus. For instance, on July 12, a video circulated on social media showing an 86-year-old resident of Khasavyurt firing into the air from a pistol at her grandson's wedding. Residents of Dagestan, commenting on the video of this scene, deemed the use of weapons inappropriate.

In March 2023, a resident of Nalchik was punished for shooting at a wedding. In January of the same year, at the border of North Ossetia and Ingushetia, participants of a wedding convoy shot into the air near a police post, and the police did not attempt to stop them.

In August 2022, law enforcement detained a guest from Kabardino-Balkaria in Vladikavkaz, who fired four times from deactivated weapons at a wedding. In October 2020, 22 drivers from a wedding convoy were detained in Kabardino-Balkaria for making dangerous maneuvers on the road and shooting into the air.

In Chechnya, a strict ban on shooting during wedding celebrations has been in effect since 2012. In November 2015, two police officers who shot into the air with service weapons at the weddings of their acquaintances were dismissed for violating this ban.
