As reported by "Caucasian Knot", 84 beaches of Anapa are already open. The sand used to cover the beaches has compacted and is not suitable for recreation, social media users pointed out. Other commentators expressed hope that the imported sand would gradually be washed away by the sea. Authorities reported about 830 thousand tourists who visited Anapa since the beginning of the year, adding that the replenishment of the beaches with new sand is ongoing. Bloggers confirmed that there are many vacationers on the beaches.

Permission to open the swimming season has been granted to 89 beaches in Anapa, while another 12 are undergoing examination, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported today following a meeting of the government commission on eliminating the consequences of the oil spill in the Black Sea.

"Currently, additional layers of clean sand are being added to the beaches of Anapa affected by the oil. The work is under the control of Rospotrebnadzor. 89 beaches have already received the necessary documents. Another 12 are undergoing examination. Monitoring of the Black Sea waters and the coastline in the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Crimea is ongoing," the statement said.

Earlier, the governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev, compared the sand on the beaches of Anapa to that of Thailand, while the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Chernyshenko, compared the beaches of Anapa to those of the French Riviera. Telegram users doubted whether the replenishment of the beaches with new sand was truly necessary, and the continuation of work during the peak resort season caused their dissatisfaction.

Activists expressed concern that the quality of the sand being used to cover the beaches of Anapa is drastically different from dune sand. They believe this could destroy the reputation of the city as a resort. New sand hardens after rain and turns into a suspension in the water, Telegram users pointed out.
