The name of a soldier from Dagestan killed in the Kursk region has been announced.

Rasul Bagandov from Makhachkala was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named the names of at least 2032 killed combatants from Dagestan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by July 13, officials officially recognized at least 2031 fighters from Dagestan as killed in Ukraine.

The name of another soldier from Dagestan killed in Ukraine was announced by the administration of Makhachkala, reporting on a visit by veterans' affairs officials to his relatives.

Rasul Bagandov was born on October 3, 1983, in the Chita region, but lived and grew up in Makhachkala. He started a family in 2007. He went to the combat zone in September 2024.

“He was performing combat tasks in the Kursk region. He died on February 15, 2025, while fulfilling his military duty in the village of Sudzha,” the official Telegram channel of the Makhachkala city administration states.

Bagandov was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. His wife is left with three teenage children.

Thus, at least 2032 servicemen from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies, according to the report of "Caucasian Knot" "Statistics of the Special Military Operation: losses are increasing for southern Russia".

In early June, the administration of Makhachkala named another person killed in Ukraine, who was Ali Zaidiev.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of killed whose names have been officially disclosed by the authorities. Sergey Melikov, who headed Dagestan in February 2022, was the first among the authorities to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.
