A 48-year-old climber from Malaysia died while descending from Elbrus, who was part of an unregistered group with two guides.

The incident on Mount Elbrus occurred on July 11.

According to the investigation, an unregistered group of four people accompanied by two guides was climbing to the summit. On the way back, one of the participants felt unwell and passed away, reports RIA "Novosti".

It turned out that the deceased was a 48-year-old climber from Malaysia. His body was evacuated by rescuers to the Azau glade and handed over to the investigative operational group. Four rescuers from the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue team of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the work, reports "Interfax".

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that on July 10, two climbers fell into the Adyl-su gorge in Kabardino-Balkaria while climbing Mount Via-tau. One died, the other sustained multiple injuries.

Elbrus is a two-peaked cone of an extinct volcano, with both peaks exceeding 5.6 kilometers in height, according to the "Caucasian Knot" reference "Elbrus - the patriarch of the Caucasus Mountains".
