The authorities have recognized at least 9350 fighters from southern Russia as killed in Ukraine.

At least 4645 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4705 military personnel from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the special operation in Ukraine.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", as of June 24, the authorities and security forces have officially recognized at least 9300 military personnel from the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD) as killed during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. The highest number of military casualties was from Dagestan.

Since the beginning of the SMO in Ukraine, representatives of the authorities and security forces have recognized at least 9350 fighters from the southern regions of Russia and the republics of the North Caucasus as killed.

According to official data, as of July 1, at least 4645 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District have died in the military operation.

The highest number of casualties among natives of the NCFD, as before, comes from Dagestan: 2022 fighters. The deaths of 956 military personnel from the Stavropol Krai, 589 from North Ossetia, 417 from Kabardino-Balkaria (the names of 404 of them are known to the "Caucasian Knot", and the deaths of another 13 fighters became known from the authorities' report on compensation payments to the families of the deceased in 2022), 265 from Chechnya (the authorities published the names of 242 killed, and the deaths of another 23 fighters were reported by Ramzan Kadyrov on October 27, 2022, without naming names), 198 from Karachay-Cherkessia, and also 198 from Ingushetia have been confirmed.

Officially, 4705 military personnel from the SFD have been recognized as killed during the special operation. Among the regions of the SFD, the highest number of killed (1810) comes from the Volgograd region. Also recognized as killed are 911 military personnel from the Rostov region, 863 fighters from the Krasnodar Krai, 748 from the Astrakhan region, 234 from Kalmykia, and 139 from Adygea.

It should be noted that the actual losses among military personnel from the North Caucasus may be significantly higher than those officially recognized. This situation is characteristic of all regions of the NCFD, but is especially relevant for Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov called on regional leaders in February 2023 to not disclose the number of killed.

Recall that the first among the representatives of the authorities to report that a Russian military personnel was killed during the SMO was the former head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he reported that an officer, Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov, was killed in Ukraine.
