An ambulance doctor is under investigation after the death of a child in Makhachkala.

The actions of the ambulance doctor who examined a kindergarten student in Makhachkala but refused to hospitalize her were classified by investigators after the girl's death as abandonment to danger.

The criminal offense of abandonment to danger (Article 125 of the Russian Criminal Code) carries a sentence of up to one year in prison or forced labor.

Investigators in Makhachkala opened a case against the ambulance doctor after the death of a young girl. The ambulance team was called to a child at a private kindergarten. According to investigators, after examining the girl, the doctor identified indications for emergency hospitalization. Despite the threat to the child's life and health, she did not provide urgent hospitalization.

"The girl was subsequently hospitalized in serious condition and, despite receiving medical attention, died," the republic's Investigative Committee reported on June 15.

The agency's statement did not specify whether the suspect had been detained or whether a preventive measure had been imposed on her.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that two teachers and a nanny in Makhachkala are accused of involvement in the injury of a girl at a kindergarten. The three-year-old girl was hospitalized with a diagnosis of "traumatic amputation of the little toe of her right foot."

Following the incident, the accused were fired from their jobs, as was the head of the institution, and investigations began at all kindergartens in Makhachkala. According to a source, the child's finger was pinched by a door, and it "began to come loose, but the teachers had already cut it off." The girl's severed finger was placed in her tights, and it fell out at home.
