A house in Astrakhan that collapsed last summer has been demolished.

Astrakhan authorities completely demolished the building on Lyakhova Street, where one of the entrances collapsed last summer, and paid 120 owners a total of 7.5 million rubles in compensation.

As reported by "Kavkazsky On July 28, part of a dilapidated five-story building on Lyakhova Street collapsed in Astrakhan. Authorities reported no injuries, and the only person hospitalized was taken to the hospital due to stress. It was decided not to rebuild the building. Some residents received compensation for their apartments, while the rest will be relocated to temporary housing and will also receive compensation, announced Astrakhan Region Governor Igor Babushkin.

In Astrakhan, apartment building No. 6 on Lyakhova Street, one of whose entrances collapsed on July 28 last year, has been completely dismantled, Kommersant reported on June 12.

According to the press service of the Astrakhan Region Governor, 120 owners have received payments for their expropriated premises, and 49 have lost their property completely. The total amount of compensation paid to residents was 7.5 million rubles. The road near the demolished building, which had been closed for almost a year, has reopened.

As a reminder, the building was declared an emergency by the Astrakhan administration on May 25, 2020. The initial resettlement deadline was August 1, 2022, but it was later pushed back to December 1, 2024. Residents of the building demanded that authorities pay attention to its dilapidated condition: there is constant water in the basement, and cracks appear in the walls.
