A Dagestani soldier was killed in Ukraine.

Sefer Gamzayev from the Khivsky District was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly named at least 1,979 Dagestani servicemen killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by June 11, officials and security forces officially acknowledged at least 1,978 Dagestani soldiers killed in Ukraine.

Sefer Gamzayev, killed in Ukraine, was buried in the village of Urga on June 10, the administration of the Khivsky District of Dagestan reported.

According to officials, Gamzayev served "in military unit No. 91708 of the 150th Division." He signed a contract to participate in combat operations in Ukraine in Krasnodar. Gamzayev, a father of five, was "rewarded with state and departmental awards," the municipality said in a statement.

Thus, at least 1,979 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. In early May, the Khiva District administration reported that Senior Sergeant Muradkhan Taibov, killed in Ukraine, was buried in the village of Tsinit in the Khiva District.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Sergey Melikov, who held the post of head of Dagestan at the time, in February 2022 became the first government official to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In the combat zone, commanders forced him to collect money, after which the young man was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where comrade 'Spartak' said that an order had been received to erase me," Murtazaliev said in his final video message sent to his mother.
