The arrest of former deputy head of the Kuban Ministry of Emergency Situations, Sergei Simonenko, has been extended.

The Proletarsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended the arrest of the former deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, Sergei Simonenko, who is accused of organizing preparations for murder.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in mid-May, a court in Rostov-on-Don accepted the case of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Kuban, Sergei Simonenko, and his subordinate, accused of attempted murder.

The court extended Sergei Simonenko's pretrial detention. This decision was made during the first hearing in this case after the change in territorial jurisdiction, Interfax reported today, citing the unified press service of the courts of the Rostov Region.

According to investigators, Simonenko organized preparations for the murder of an individual in connection with his official duties, carried out by a group of individuals by prior conspiracy and for hire. The crime was not completed due to circumstances beyond the defendant's control.

Simonenko is accused of organizing an attempted murder; the second defendant is Melko Dzhemo, who is charged with instigating and aiding in the preparation of the murder.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that in mid-August 2025, an appellate court upheld the legality of the seizure of 360 million rubles of property and money from Sergei Simonenko in favor of the state.
