Prosperous Armenia reported the detention of 50 party supporters on election day.

Security forces detained 50 supporters of the Prosperous Armenia party, according to the party, considered one of the most pro-Russian in the current Armenian parliamentary elections.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," mass detentions of opposition supporters were previously reported amid the tense election campaign in Armenia. Security forces confirmed the opening of dozens of criminal cases involving money laundering and bribery of residents. On June 6, the number of people detained in Armenia in cases of election bribery approached 200. Today, before the opening of polling stations, security forces conducted searches at the headquarters of the Armenia bloc in Gyumri and detained candidate Hasmik Sagradyan. Searches were also conducted at the headquarters of the "Strong Armenia" party.

Today, on the day of the Armenian parliamentary elections, security forces detained 50 supporters of the "Prosperous Armenia" party, party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan reported, as quoted by News.am.

Tsarukyan told reporters this after casting his ballot at a polling station. He called the security forces' actions unfounded and expressed confidence in the opposition's victory. "We will win, we already have. The candidate for prime minister will be nominated by the force that receives the most votes," 168.am quoted Tsarukyan as saying today.

As a reminder, the Prosperous Armenia party of oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, the Armenia bloc of former President Robert Kocharyan, and the Strong Armenia bloc of businessman Samvel Karapetyan are the most pro-Russian participants in the Armenian parliamentary elections.
