Residents of a village in the Rostov region demanded that quarry development be stopped.

In the village of Krasyukovskaya in the Rostov Region, local residents recorded a video message to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia asking him to stop the development of a sand quarry, which could leave them without drinking water.

"We, the residents of the village of Krasyukovskaya, and their families, are once again being threatened with taking away the water that supplies our families, children, and thousands of people outside the village. Residents emphasized that they view the situation as a threat to drinking water sources and the safety of the village, and they also want the authorities and the governor of the Rostov region to pay attention to the situation. Region.

"According to current sanitary regulations, the minimum distance is 500 meters. They're drilling 23 meters deep, right into the aquifer. This will destroy the spring. This threatens to flood the streets. Noise, vibration, dust—this isn't an industrial zone. This is our home! We're not against development. We're for the law," they complain.

Residents claim that regulatory authorities aren't properly assessing the situation and are demanding an independent investigation. In their appeal, they demanded an immediate suspension of all work pending an independent environmental and hydrogeological assessment, a review of the legality of the license, and prosecution for violating sanitary zones and noise regulations. They also demanded public hearings with the participation of local residents and independent experts.

"The license was issued in violation of the law. The court decision to close the illegal quarry was ignored.
