Larissa Dorogova: in Kabardino-Balkaria, many people are dissatisfied with how militants' relatives are defended

Advocate Larissa Dorogova told in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she is persecuted by those for whom proper defence of the rights of the relatives of those militants who perished on October 13, 2005, during the attack on power agencies of Kabardino-Balkaria is disadvantageous.

"I defend the interests of the relatives of the militants who fell victim of the events of October 13, 2005, who try to prove that their rights had been broken by their non-admission to the case and refusal to have the bodies of their relatives for burial. Out of them, 57 persons are applicants to the European Court.

Besides, agreements were concluded with me on rendering legal aid and help in applying to the European Court for three detainees in the criminal case because of tortures applied to them. This work involves appealing against decisions of the prosecutor's office to refuse to open criminal cases on facts of tortures. In this context, this work is disadvantageous for many," Ms Dorogova said.

Valery Khatazhukov, Chairman of the Kabardino-Balkarian Public Human Rights Centre, also sticks to the opinion that prosecution of Dorogova is caused by her professional activities.

In his opinion, "all these provocations" are profitable first of all to those forces, who would not like the stabilization process in the Muslim community of Kabardino-Balkaria to continue.
