The court changed the preventive measure for Volgograd journalist Alexei Serovoy, suspected of libel and fraud, from house arrest to a ban on certain activities.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, in early April, the appellate court rejected the appeal of the defense of Volgograd journalist Vitaly Koshelev, accused of extortion, against his arrest and remanded him in pretrial detention until May 23. His colleague, Alexei Serovoy, is under house arrest. On May 20, the court extended Koshelev's pretrial detention until June 23.

Volgograd journalist Alexei Serovy, suspected of slander and extortion, had his pretrial detention changed. He was released from house arrest with a ban on certain activities, Vysota 102 reported on May 23.

The Central District Court ruled to change his pretrial detention. Serovy is prohibited from communicating with other participants in the criminal case, sending and receiving mail and telegraph messages, and using the internet, v1.ru reports.

According to investigators, the head physician of a Volgograd clinic contacted law enforcement this spring. The woman claimed that unknown individuals were extorting over 1,200,000 rubles from her. It turned out that the pressure was exerted on her through an anonymous Telegram channel with a following of thousands, run by Vitaly Koshelev and Alexey Serovoy. This resource published information about her and her loved ones that was untrue and damaging to her reputation. The channel's creators then contacted the doctor and demanded payment to stop publishing and remove existing materials. On March 26, it was reported that two journalists had been detained in Volgograd.
