A fighter from Karachay-Cherkessia was killed in the SVO zone.

Ilyas Karaketov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 195 fighters from Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by April 11, authorities and security forces recognized at least 194 fighters from Karachay-Cherkessia as killed in the special military operation.

Ilyas Karaketov was killed in the SVO zone, the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District administration reported. He was born in the village of Eltarkach in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. After graduating from college in Cherkessk in 2019, he was drafted into the army. In 2020, he enlisted in the military under contract. In August 2021, he retired with the rank of corporal. In early December 2025, he volunteered for the special military operation zone. He was killed near Lisichansk on December 28, 2025, at the age of 26, according to the report.

Thus, at least 195 soldiers from Karachay-Cherkessia have been officially recognized as killed in the SVO zone.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Mount for Southern Russia."

Earlier, in April, authorities in the Ust-Dzhegutinsky District reported that Alibek Shukurov had been killed in the military operation.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "As a family of retired military personnel, I only receive 12,000 rubles a month for my two minor children," said the widow of one of the victims.
