Students switched to distance learning after drone attack in Azov

Students at the Azov branch of the Don State Technical University will study remotely on May 18 due to damage to one of the university buildings during a drone attack.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the military shot down drones in Azov and three districts of the Rostov region. The attack damaged the building of a technical university branch.

The building of the Don State Technical University branch in Azov sustained damage after a drone attack, university Rector Besarion Meskhi reported on his Telegram channel.

"Fortunately, there are no casualties. I quickly went to the scene. We are currently assessing the damage. Further restoration work will be carried out as planned," he said.

According to him, students will be transferred to distance learning.

"I signed an order stating that tomorrow, May 18, classes at the DSTU branch in Azov will be held remotely according to the schedule," the rector said.

As a reminder, on April 19, three people were injured in an airstrike in Taganrog, where the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex is located. The grounds of the aircraft factory and park were cordoned off after the airstrike. Telegram users suggested that authorities evacuate the enterprise outside the city limits for the safety of residents.

According to official government data, at least five people have been killed in airstrike in Taganrog since November 2025. Reports of these incidents mentioned addresses located near the Beriev Aircraft Company.

On January 14, an air strike in Rostov-on-Don caused fires in homes and at an industrial facility. One person died and four, including a four-year-old child, were hospitalized. That day, the military reported shooting down 25 drones in the region.
