A temporary river crossing has been established in the village of Gerpegezh.

Workers installed a temporary bridge for residents of a village in Kabardino-Balkaria who were left without transportation after a section of the road collapsed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on May 16, after heavy rainfall, the Kheu River overflowed its banks and washed away a temporary bypass road installed during major repairs to a bridge on the highway in the village of Gerpegezh in the Cherek District. As a result, residents of 100 houses (442 people) were left without transportation. A temporary metal bridge is planned to be installed at the site of the incident, announced Kazbek Kokov, head of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Work to restore road traffic in Gerpegezh, disrupted by the flood, is "practically complete," Kazbek Kokov announced on his Telegram channel at 9:50 a.m. Moscow time.

"A temporary bridge has been installed, and pedestrian and vehicle traffic will be reopened very soon," he wrote.

As of 11:58 a.m. Moscow time, Kokov had not released any new information on the situation in Gerpegezh. There are no comments under his post, although the ability to leave comments is enabled.

According to the Caucasian Knot weather service, there is light rain today in the village of Kashkhatau (the administrative center of the Cherek District). Light to moderate precipitation is expected until May 22, with wind speeds forecast to be below 1 meter per second. The weather service is a partnership between the Caucasian Knot and Gismeteo.
