"Strong Armenia" called the talk of a single opposition prime minister candidate slanderous.

The Strong Armenia Party demanded that Public Television refute reports that the unified opposition candidate for prime minister is former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, the opposition's fragmentation has not diminished over the past month amid the onset of the campaign and increased pressure. The main opposition parties are fighting for votes and political leadership. Representatives of the Strong Armenia Party and the Armenia bloc emphasized the importance of the country's partnership with Russia, but emphasized the need for an independent policy.

The "Strong Armenia" party has filed a lawsuit against the Public Television of Armenia. The party believes that the television company spread slander by stating in a news broadcast that Robert Kocharyan was the unified opposition candidate, the publication reported.

The lawsuit states that on May 3, during the Sunday evening news broadcast of Public Television, the phrase was aired that Robert Kocharyan was the unified opposition candidate for prime minister.

The Strong Armenia Party demands that Public Television of Armenia CJSC be obligated to post a material under the headline "Public Television slandered the Strong Armenia Party" immediately after the court decision comes into force.

"In the Sunday evening news broadcast of Public Television, aired on May 3, 2026 at 9:00 PM, false information was disseminated that Kocharyan was the unified opposition candidate for prime minister. "We inform you that this is not true, and the Strong Armenia Party's candidate for prime minister is party chairman Samvel Karapetyan," the publication quotes the requested retraction.

The lawsuit was filed on May 15, 2026, and its admissibility has not yet been decided. The case has been assigned to Judge Gohar Grigoryan, the agency reported.
