Those involved in the attack on police officers have been arrested in Tskhinvali.

Two servicemen have been arrested for attacking law enforcement officers in South Ossetia. Their colleague, who came armed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs building to demand the release of his comrades, has been placed on the wanted list. Seven contract soldiers have been dismissed from the armed forces following the incident at the police building.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on May 10, two men were detained in Tskhinvali, reportedly serving in the South Ossetian army. They were in a traffic accident while intoxicated and attacked the arriving security forces. Their colleagues and friends arrived at the Tskhinvali police department building, where they were taken, demanding their release. Security forces dispersed them with warning shots.

A court in Tskhinvali has remanded two South Ossetian Defense Ministry servicemen into custody in connection with the use of violence against a government official. Another suspect has been placed on the wanted list, TASS/Kavkaz reports, citing the republic's Prosecutor General, Grigory Sobayev.

Speaking at a meeting of the South Ossetian Security Council, Sobayev confirmed that the detainees were involved in a traffic accident and attempted to resist police officers during their arrest.

Interior Minister Erislav Mamiyev reported on the incident at the police building, confirming that acquaintances, friends, and colleagues of the detainees had gathered to demand their release. According to him, a soldier named Kasayev was among those arriving. He was initially dressed in civilian clothes but later returned in uniform and armed, the state news agency "Res" reports.

South Ossetian Defense Minister Yuri Yarovitsky reported that Kasayev was assigned to the checkpoint duty station at the time of the incident but left his duty station without permission. "After receiving information about the detention of a fellow soldier, Kasayev returned to the unit's location, changed into a military uniform, took a weapon from the patrol, and arrived at the scene of the incident. Other special forces personnel subsequently joined him," the publication quotes him as saying.

According to Yarovitsky, an internal investigation was conducted, which revealed serious shortcomings in the organization of the service and oversight by those in charge. As a result, seven service members were dismissed from the armed forces for failure to comply with contract terms.

South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev stated that "this citizen" is the son of a deceased SVO participant, which is why "previously there was a certain understanding regarding certain incidents involving him, but this should not become grounds for impunity."

"No one has the right, and military personnel in uniform are no exception, to threaten anyone, especially those who ensure public order in the republic," Gagloev added.
