Residents of Dagestan capital ready to protest against electricity outages

Despite the authorities' assurances about no-break electricity supply in Makhachkala, certain districts of Dagestan capital have no electricity for some days already. City dwellers are again ready to go out for protest actions.

"So far, the company has made no disconnections in Makhachkala," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Open Joint-Stock Company "Dagestan Power Sales Company".

The residents of the houses situated in the Engelsa Street in Makhachkala, where the electricity is out for two days already, complained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that none of the telephones of the "Makhachkala Electric Network" can provide any trustworthy information.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has also failed to contact the "Makhachkala Electric Network", and he was told at the reception of Murad Mirzabekov, Deputy Head of Makhachkala Administration in charge of communal services, that "he is away, and nobody knows when he will appear."

"We're sick and tired of these showdowns among bureaucrats! Why should simple people suffer!?" Ms Aishat, a resident of No. 19 Engelsa Street in Makhachkala, was indignant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that because of failure to fulfil the agreement on repayment of current debts by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Makhachkala City Electricity Networks", the OJSC "Dagestan Power Sales Company" plans to restrict its electricity supplies to Makhachkala.
