Three regions of the Southern Federal District were hit by drone attacks.

The Ministry of Defense reported downed drones in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, and Rostov regions.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," last night "about two dozen UAVs" were destroyed in six districts of the Rostov region, Governor Yuri Slyusar reported. According to the Ministry of Defense, there were no injuries or damage.

From 8:00 PM Moscow time on May 3 to 7:00 AM Moscow time, 117 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed, including in the Astrakhan, Volgograd, and Rostov regions, the Ministry of Defense reported on its website.

According to the publication, the remaining drones were shot down outside the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts: in the Belgorod, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Moscow, Oryol, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, and Ulyanovsk regions.

The ministry did not indicate the number of drones shot down in each region.

The Volgograd Region Administration and the Governor of the Astrakhan Region, Igor Babushkin, as of 8:55 a.m. Moscow time, had not reported any consequences of the overnight attacks on their Telegram channels.

UAV attacks in the Southern Federal District are occurring amid restrictions on their lighting.

As a reminder, on April 19, three people were injured in an airstrike in Taganrog, where the Beriev Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex is located. The grounds of the aircraft factory and its park were cordoned off following the airstrike. Telegram users suggested that authorities evacuate the facility outside the city limits for the safety of residents.

According to official government data, at least five people have been killed in Taganrog as a result of airstrikes since November 2025. Reports of these incidents mentioned addresses located near the Beriev Aircraft Company.

In Volgograd, on the night of February 13, a woman and a teenager were injured in a drone attack. According to authorities, several private and apartment buildings were damaged. Windows in damaged apartments haven't been repaired even a week after the attack, and it's difficult to reach dispatchers, victims complained.

Thirty-eight drones were shot down in the Astrakhan region on December 15, 2025. They attacked "industrial and energy facilities," Igor Babushkin reported on his Telegram channel that day. He called it "one of the most massive attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Astrakhan Region."

In the Rostov Region, a ban is in effect on filming aerial attacks and their aftermath, air defense operations, and military unit locations. A corresponding governor's decree was published on the "Caucasian Knot."

In other regions of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts, including the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions, filming drone attacks and their aftermath is also prohibited. These prohibitions contradict the Constitution, which guarantees the inadmissibility of censorship and the freedom to search for, record, and disseminate information, lawyers pointed out.
