A Dagestani soldier was killed in a military operation.

Suleiman Gamzatov from Khasavyurt was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, at least 1,905 soldiers from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, by April 26, at least 1,904 soldiers from Dagestan had been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

The Khasavyurt administration announced today on its Telegram channel that the Order of Courage was presented to the family of Suleiman Gamzatov, a serviceman killed during a special military operation.

The award was presented to Gamzatov's mother and brother by the mayor of Khasavyurt, Korgoli Korgoliev. The administration did not provide details of the soldier's biography or death in the statement.

At least 4,460 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,590 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

Thus, at least 1,905 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in Ukraine. The Caucasian Knot maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "North Caucasus Military District Statistics: Casualties Are Mounting for Southern Russia".

The death of a North Caucasus Military District participant from Khasavyurt was also reported on April 24. Then the authorities announced that Mukhtar Gadzhiev was killed in the military operation.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "His family was not given any official honors. The military registration and enlistment office said they allegedly didn't even have Sogaz insurance. They allegedly weren't insured... No one else responded, including the military prosecutor's office," said a relative of one of them.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In the combat zone, commanders forced him to collect money, after which the young man was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where comrade 'Spartak' said that an order had been received to cancel my contract," Murtazaliev said in his last video message sent to his mother.
