Alen Simonyan demanded an apology from Mikael Margaryan

Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan filed a lawsuit against activist Mikael Margaryan, who was detained at a rally for relatives of missing soldiers after an altercation with Simonyan, and demanded an apology and one dram for insult.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on March 26, two participants were detained at a rally for relatives of missing soldiers after getting into an altercation with Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan. A criminal case has been opened against one of the detainees, Mikael Margaryan, under the article on hooliganism.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, filed a lawsuit demanding an apology from Mikael Margaryan and payment of 1 dram for insult. The case has been transferred to the Yerevan Civil Court, News.am reported on April 20.

In the lawsuit, Simonyan demanded that Margaryan publicly apologize to him, stating "I, Mikael Margaryan, apologize to Alen Simonyan" for making a statement about him near the National Assembly of Armenia on March 26.

As a reminder, relatives of Armenian soldiers regularly hold protests demanding clarification of the fate of those missing. Thus, on March 8, the mothers of military personnel once again demanded that their sons be found at a protest outside the Armenian government building. On March 24, the relatives of the killed and missing soldiers demanded that the Armenian parliament publish the report of the commission that investigated the circumstances of the 44-day war.

By October 2022, 217 people had been officially recognized as missing during the 44-day Karabakh War of 2020. According to the Red Cross, approximately 300 people are listed as missing in action during the 2020-2023 hostilities. In addition, several dozen families disagreed with the results of the examination, which declared their relatives dead - they insist that their loved ones should be included in the list of missing persons.
