A Moscow court has placed Alexander Ablaev, a former police officer from Krasnodar, under house arrest for six months. He is accused of accepting bribes from journalists of the Telegram channel "Baza".

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Alexander Ablaev, the head of the duty unit of the Krasnodar Department of Internal Affairs, admitted to accepting bribes from Baza reporters and announced his intention to testify. He was sent to house arrest.

The Savelovsky Court of Moscow has extended the house arrest of former police officer Alexander Ablaev, accused of accepting bribes from Baza journalists and abuse of office, was arrested on April 17, according to TASS.

The defense requested that the preventive measure be changed to a ban on certain activities due to Ablaev's family's dire financial situation. The court ruled to extend Ablaev's house arrest for six months, until October 8.

On July 22, security forces searched the office of the Baza Telegram channel. Editor-in-chief Gleb Trifonov was brought in for questioning and later arrested on charges of bribery by a group of individuals. Searches in connection with the case involving police officers transmitting information for publication on the Telegram channel were carried out, among other places, in the Krasnodar Territory. In Kuban and two other Russian regions, police officers have been detained for transmitting information to "Base" employees.
