As "Caucasian Knot" reported, by April 12, the authorities and security forces had publicly named at least 1,893 fighters from Dagestan killed in the war zone in Ukraine.

Sheikhyusuf Kerimov, a resident of the village of Delichoban in the Derbent district, was killed during a special military operation. Senator Suleiman Kerimov expressed condolences to the slain soldier's father, Shigabitdin Kerimov, Russian State Duma Deputy Khizri Abakarov reported on his Telegram channel.

Details of the soldiers' biographies and deaths were not provided in the statement.

Thus, at least 1,894 servicemen from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The last death of NOR members from the Derbent District was reported in late February. At the time, authorities reported that five fighters had been killed in the military operation. The Caucasian Knot also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. Commanders in the combat zone forced him to collect money, after which he was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where Comrade 'Spartak' said he'd received an order to reset my status," Murtazaliev said in his final video message sent to his mother.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One don't guarantee the families of the slain soldiers state support, according to the Caucasian Knot article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Slain Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "His family was not given any official honors. The military registration and enlistment office said they allegedly didn't even have Sogaz insurance. They allegedly weren't insured... No one else responded, including the military prosecutor's office," a relative of one of them said.
