A Makhachkala resident is suspected of calling for terrorism.

A video published on the Telegram messenger gave security forces grounds for criminal prosecution of a Makhachkala resident.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," courts in southern Russia have sentenced at least seven people to prison terms in the past four months for social media posts. The actual number of such convictions is significantly higher, as not all cases justifying terrorism are included in public court records.

The Investigative Department of the FSB of Dagestan has opened a criminal case against a resident of Makhachkala. According to investigators, in January 2026, the suspect published destructive video content publicly on the Telegram messenger, RIA Dagestan reported today, citing security officials.

Experts concluded that the materials contained direct calls for terrorist activity, as well as ideas of religious intolerance and justification of violence. The suspect is charged with public calls to commit terrorist activity and public justification of terrorism. 1 .

The investigation did not specify what kind of video content the expert examination deemed destructive. The report also did not name the suspect or provide information about the measure of restraint chosen for her.

"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that in early March, investigators in Dagestan opened a criminal case against a resident of the republic, whose posts on a messenger were deemed calls for terrorist activity.
