Construction of the Akhmat Tower skyscraper has resumed in Grozny.

Ramzan Kadyrov announced the resumption of construction of the 435-meter Akhmat Tower skyscraper, which began ten years ago.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in January 2016, builders began digging a pit for the Akhmat Tower skyscraper, which was expected to be the tallest building not only in Russia but also in Europe - it was reported at the time that its height would be 400 meters. Local residents criticized the multi-million dollar investments in the construction of high-rise and entertainment complexes against the backdrop of unemployment in Chechnya. In November 2017, builders began pouring the foundation; By that time, it was announced that the height of the Akhmat Tower would be 435 meters, and the project cost was estimated not at 500 million, but at one billion dollars.

Ramzan Kadyrov announced the resumption of "one of the most ambitious projects" in Chechnya on March 26 following a meeting with close officials and business representatives.

At the meeting were State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, head of the republic's government Magomed Daudov, other officials, Smart Building CEO Said-Magomed Zubayrayev, and head of the Sheikh Zayed Foundation Anvar Usmanov.

Zubayrayev confirmed that the building will be 435 meters tall. The skyscraper, according to him, will have 103 above-ground floors and one underground floor (in 2016, 108 floors were planned - ed. "Caucasian Knot"), underground parking for 1,200 cars, office space, hotel rooms, 325 residences, and four penthouses.

Kadyrov called the Akhmat Tower project "one of the most unique in the world," noting, however, that "the global economic situation" required some adjustments to the project.

"At the time of receiving the positive conclusion from the Main Directorate of State Expertise, no building with such a ratio of height and seismic resistance had been built anywhere in the world," the Chechen leader's Telegram channel claims. According to him, some of the main pile-driving work has been completed, and the next stage "plans include constructing the building itself."
