The date of Eid al-Fitr coincided in all regions of southern Russia.

March 20, Eid al-Fitr is celebrated in all regions of southern Russia, including Dagestan, according to representatives of the muftis and authorities.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, this year in Chechnya, as well as Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Karachay-Cherkessia, the first day of the month of Ramadan and fasting was declared February 18. The Muftiate of Dagestan declared February 19 as the first day of Ramadan. On March 18, the muftis of the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District reported that the new moon was not observed in the evening, therefore March 19, which was declared a non-working day in a number of republics of the North Caucasus Federal District, will be the day of the month of Ramadan.

The Committee for Determining Lunar Calendar Dates under the Council of Ulama of the Republic of Dagestan has decided that March 20th is the day of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, the Muftiate of Dagestan announced today on its Telegram channel.

The Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Chechnya announced on the evening of March 19th that "the holiday of breaking the fast, Eid al-Fitr, will be on Friday, March 20, 2026." Ramzan Kadyrov posted holiday greetings on his Telegram page today.

The Muslim Spiritual Directorate of Karachay-Cherkessia reported that Friday marks "two holidays in one day," but the holiday prayer does not cancel out the Friday prayer.

The head of Adygea, Murat Kumpilov, reported on his Telegram channel about his meeting with the Mufti of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai, Askarbiy Kardanov. "Tomorrow, March 20, Muslim believers around the world will celebrate the holiday of breaking the fast, which concludes the month of Ramadan," the publication states.

The Head of Ingushetia, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, congratulated Muslims on the holiday.

The Mufti of the Astrakhan Region, Rauf Dzhantasov, also congratulated Muslims on the holiday, which falls on March 20, according to the Telegram channel of the RSO-Alania Muslim Spiritual Directorate.

The RSO-Alania Muslim Spiritual Directorate also announced that the celebration will take place on March 20. The head of the republic, Sergei Menyailo, announced on his Telegram channel that March 20th will be a holiday. Heads of organizations of all types of ownership are advised to "take measures to provide employees with the opportunity to visit mosques and participate in holiday events during the workday."

The Mufti of the Volgograd Regional Office of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia (CSAM), Bata Kifah Mohamad, reposted Eid al-Fitr greetings from the page of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia on his Telegram channel this evening.

The Council of Ulema of the CSM of Russia announced the start and end dates of Ramadan back in late January. According to a post on the CSM website, the last day of the fast is March 19th.
