A security officer from Armavir was sentenced to prison for violence.

The Armavir City Court found former police officer Anatoly Kostenko guilty of hooliganism with violence and destruction of property and sentenced him to one year and one month in prison.

According to the investigation and the court, on January 30, 2025, Anatoly Kostenko, Deputy Chief of Police of the Novokubansky District Department of Internal Affairs of Russia, learned of a conflict between his subordinate and a man he did not know, which occurred at a self-service car wash.

That same evening, Kostenko arrived at the Armavir City Hospital, where he wanted to speak with the person involved in the conflict. However, he began shouting, swearing, and then punched the victim in the head and stomach at least twice. He also snatched the man's cell phone from his hands and, throwing it on the floor, stepped on it, breaking it, the press service of the Krasnodar Territory courts reported today on Telegram.

The Armavir City Court found Kostenko was found guilty of hooliganism with the use of violence and intentional destruction of property, and sentenced to one year and one month in a general regime penal colony. Caucasian Knot also wrote that the prosecution appealed the lenient sentence given to police officer Dmitry Korchagin, who was accused of the death of detainee Ilya Afrosin. Afrosin's family plans to seek compensation for moral damages for his death.
