At least 4,355 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,496 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

The relatives of Salavat Dzhumaliev and Sergey Kiryushin from Kamyzyak, killed in the military operation, have been awarded state awards, the Kamyzyak District Administration reported on its Telegram channel on March 13.

According to the publication, Salavat Dzhumaliev entered into a contract in 2023 for the position of gunner in the Caspian Flotilla. "Then followed a second contract for the military position of a crew member in the assault squad […] of the 98th Guards Airborne Division," authorities reported, noting that Dzhumaliev died in July 2024 "during assault operations."

Sergey Kiryushin, according to authorities, "volunteered" for the military operation zone in October 2024 and was killed in March 2025.

Thus, at least 723 fighters from the Astrakhan region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Northeastern Military District Statistics: Casualties Risen in Southern Russia."
