A fighter from Dagestan was killed in Ukraine.

Shikhamat Magomedov from Khasavyurt was killed in combat. Over the past four years, authorities have publicly named at least 1,826 Dagestani servicemen killed in Ukraine.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by February 24, at least 1,825 Dagestani servicemen had been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.

The Khasavyurt administration named another serviceman killed in Ukraine on February 24. The mayor, Korgoli Korgoliev, reported the presentation of a posthumous award to his family.

The deceased is Shikhamat Magomedov, who was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage. Korgoliev presented the award to the serviceman's son, according to a message on the administration's official Telegram channel.

Officials are not disclosing the age of the deceased or details of his biography.

Thus, at least 1,826 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The Caucasian Knot maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "North Caucasus Military District Statistics: Casualties Are Mounting for Southern Russia".

The Khasavyurt administration regularly reports on the awarding of decorations to fellow countrymen killed in Ukraine. For example, at the end of January, it announced that Saidbeg Abdulmalikov from Khasavyurt was killed in the combat zone. Overall, Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Back in February 2022, Dagestan's head, Sergey Melikov, was the first government official to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" article "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. "He has two Orders of Courage. But no official honors have been bestowed upon his family," a relative of one of them said.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that 18-year-old Said Murtazaliev from Dagestan was tortured by security forces in the Moscow region to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In the combat zone, commanders forced him to collect money, after which the young man was declared missing. "I myself was sent to the assault, where comrade 'Spartak' said that an order had been received to erase me," Murtazaliev said in his last video message sent to his mother.
