A mass event commemorating the deportation of the Ingush people took place in Nazran.

The event took place at the Memorial of Memory and Glory in Nazran.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, commemorative events to mark the 82nd anniversary of the forced deportation of the Vainakhs to Central Asia are also being held today in Chechnya. Hundreds of people gathered at the memorial complex in the Dagestani village of Novokuli (Yaryksu).

More than 500 people took part in today's event at the Memorial of Memory and Glory in Nazran, the Fortanga Telegram channel reports. Photos from the event on the Ingnature project's Instagram page show dozens of participants. The event concluded with a collective prayer for those who perished during the deportation and a performance by the religious group "Nazym."

"82 years ago, our people experienced a tragedy that forever changed the fates of Ingush families and left a deep mark on our history. Today in Nazran, at the Memorial of Memory and Glory, we honored the memory of the victims of the deportation – we remembered the resilience of our elders, their wisdom, and their strength of spirit, thanks to which the Ingush people endured, preserved their dignity, and continue to confidently move forward," wrote the head of the region, Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov, on his Telegram channel.

As a reminder, Operation Lentil began on February 23, 1944, during which nearly 500,000 Chechens and Ingush were deported en masse from the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic to Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
