Volunteers challenge reports of oil-free shores in Anapa.

The Russian government reported no new fuel oil spills on the shores of Anapa and the Temryuk district. Volunteers dismissed this claim as false, posting photos and videos of the spills after the storm.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the Krasnodar Krai task force reported that there had been no new fuel oil spills on the coast of Anapa and the Temryuk district for almost three months. On February 7, volunteers reported that the wind had exposed layers of fuel oil right on the protective embankment; within a day, they had collected 12 bags of clean fuel oil. On February 19, a strong storm destroyed the protective embankments.

And no new oil spills were recorded over the past week. Satellite images of the Black Sea tanker wreck site have revealed no confirmed oil spills, the Russian government reported today.

"Since the beginning of the work, more than 185,000 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected. More than 3,000 kilometers of coastline have been cleaned, including re-cleaned. A total of more than 179,000 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been disposed of by specialized organizations or recycled. The combined force involved in the emergency response includes 764 people and 184 pieces of equipment," the statement reads.

Volunteers, in turn, pointed out that authorities are turning a blind eye to the real state of the beaches.

In particular, they published photos and videos from the Bugayskaya Spit, where significant spills are visible.

We don't know how we can turn a blind eye to this... Bugaz Spit, glamping," wrote the "Volunteers of the SSL" headquarters (the new name of the "Nets, Sieve, Shovel" headquarters - note from the "Caucasian Knot").

"The main problem now: a kilometer from the Dzhemete pier towards Vityazevo. Kuban-Spas has left for a gathering, but, I repeat, their forces are insufficient," the volunteers wrote in another message.

As a reminder, on April 18, 2025, Rospotrebnadzor declared 141 beaches in Anapa and nine beaches in the Temryuk district unsuitable for recreation.
