The prosecutor's office responded to child abuse in Krasnodar.

A woman from Kuban was charged with criminal offense for refusing to provide food and clothing for her two minor children.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," the Supreme Court in Adygea previously reduced by two months – to 12 years and 10 months – the prison sentence of the mother of a three-year-old girl who died in Adygea from beatings.

The Krasnodar prosecutor's office reported opening a criminal case for failure to fulfill parental responsibilities and child abuse. The case concerns a mother who failed to provide them with food and clothing, TASS quotes the Krasnodar Krai Prosecutor's Office as saying.

"It has been established that the 39-year-old local resident, the mother of two minor children—a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl—has systematically evaded her parental responsibilities over a long period of time, abused alcohol, failed to provide the children with adequate nutrition and seasonal clothing, and allowed the minors to remain in unsanitary conditions for extended periods," the agency's statement reads.

The children were also not provided with medical care and did not attend educational institutions, Kommersant reports.

A criminal case has been opened against the woman under Article 156 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

As a reminder, social media users expressed outrage at the suspended sentence given to Tamila Mutsolgova, a resident of Ingushetia, whose four-year-old daughter died after prolonged torture in 2023. The child's death caused a major stir in Ingushetia: numerous sources testified that the girl was subjected to brutal, sexualized violence, something that was not mentioned by official sources. Human rights activists demand that inactive guardianship officials be held accountable.
