The memorial plaque on Politkovskaya's house has been destroyed for the 15th time.

A temporary memorial plaque installed by activists has been removed from the wall of the building where journalist Anna Politkovskaya lived and was murdered.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on January 18, the plaque, which had hung for almost 20 years on the wall of the building on Lesnaya Street in Moscow where Novaya Gazeta columnist Anna Politkovskaya lived and was shot, was smashed for the first time. Civil Initiative activists replaced the plaque with a temporary one, but on January 19, it, too, was destroyed. On the evening of February 14, activists affixed the 14th temporary memorial plaque to the building.

This morning, it was reported that the plaque in memory of Anna Politkovskaya, restored on the evening of February 14, is no longer on the building, RusNews reports.

The publication is illustrated with a video recording made by an eyewitness. He demonstrates the absence of the sign in the video and states that he is recording at 10:36 [Moscow time] on February 15th.

"I see that nothing is stopping the activists from putting up [signs]. Basically, they act the same way as Anna Politkovskaya: she never gave up, and nothing will stop the activists either, as long as that crazy old woman and her supporters ruin it all," the author of the video says off-camera. The footage shows that the stenciled inscription on the wall of the building remains.

As a reminder, Anna Politkovskaya, known for her articles on the war and human rights violations in Chechnya, was killed in Moscow on October 7, 2006. The court found that Lom-Ali Gaitukayev had organized the murder, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Rustam Makhmudov was found to be the actual perpetrator, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "The Murder of Anna Politkovskaya."

On the fifth anniversary of Politkovskaya's murder, journalists and human rights activists at a rally in Tbilisi highlighted her contribution to the fight for freedom of speech, demanding that those who ordered her murder be identified.
