Protesters in Yerevan complained about the developer.

Residents of a new building in Yerevan's residential complex are forced to heat their homes with electric appliances due to a lack of gas, due to the developer's fault, protesters complained.

Residents of the Komitas Park residential complex held a protest today, demanding the developer fulfill its obligations, News.am reports.

"Our apartments were supposed to be completed in December 2023, but we still don't have a title deed," the newspaper quotes one protester as saying.

Furthermore, there is no gas in the apartments in the new building, a Yerevan resident noted. "Because the developer was supposed to pay for it, but he doesn't. We pay up to 100,000 drams [approximately $264] per month for electricity just to heat our homes," he was quoted as saying in the publication.

The publication is accompanied by a video recording from the scene of the protest. The footage shows several dozen men and women participating in the protest. Protesters are peacefully standing on the street; some came with children.

Construction of the Komitas Park residential complex began in 2020. It is a project of the developer and construction company Ord Development, according to the Russian-language version of the residential complex's website.

"The company acted as a partner developer under the state program to provide housing for civil servants. As a result, 826 citizens became owners of apartments in the multi-apartment residential complex being built in phases 1 and 2 of the Komitas Park residential complex," the presentation states.

The Komitas Park residential complex is located in the Arabkir administrative district, between Griboyedov, Mamikonyants, and Tigranyan Streets. The first two stages of construction include 24 buildings, each 12-16 stories high, with a total of 1,800 apartments. The third phase plans to construct 15 more buildings with 1,400 apartments. "The Komitas Park residential complex will ultimately have 3,200 apartments," the complex description states.

As of 12:40 Moscow time, the company's position on the protesters' claims was not disclosed on its website.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in August 2024, residents of the recently populated "Renaissance" neighborhood in Yerevan blocked a street, demanding pedestrian crossings be installed.

During the protest, children, assisted by adults, drew chalk markings on the asphalt depicting a pedestrian crossing. The street protest attracted the attention of the authorities. The city administration promised that road markings will be installed.
